And I'm not just talking about the covid-19 thing.
2020 started off with a week long case of the Hershey squirts that I finally had to go to the cured. February brought a trip to the ER for a deep cut that hit a vein and wouldn't stop bleeding. The ER doctor couldn't give me any medication while poked around trying to get the vein repaired and boy did it hurt. Cursed with thin skin they had a hard time getting stitches to hold but at least I got pain meds before they did that. In my follow up with my doctor to get the stitches removed the scab had grown into the stitches and that was another painful experience. In March at the St. Patricks celebration I felt something in my back when I was bumped into. This ended up causing my femoral nerve to act up which caused a pain in the front of my thigh. This is similar to sciatic pain but a different nerve path. At it's worst it was a relentless pain that I could only alleviate by laying in a certain position in bed. It was almost two months before I felt okay. And of course March also brought the statewide shutdown and everything that has followed. Over the summer a piece of drywall broke and hit my shin causing the two worst skin tears I've had and I've had quite a few. These took several months and two doctor trips to get healed. And just so 2020 would make sure I remembered it I tweaked my back again picking up a smoked sausage at Kroger on New Years Eve day (it was a full 16oz package not some wimpy 12oz one). This impacted me for about three weeks but was no where as bad as the one earlier in the year. 2021 didn't start out great either with the tweaked back recovery and the a colonoscopy this past week where the doctor found 13 polyps and I have to go back in year instead of the usual four. 2020 did have some high points though: The twins got a lot more mobile and vocal which is both good and bad occasionally. Joe found and bought the house of his dreams. The Glue got the Jeep she'd been wanting for quite some time. The Packers had a good regular season. I got a rare eagle in golf (#3 at Hickory for those who care). We checked out quite a few new places in spite of or before the shutdown. A few were mediocre but most were good and a few were even better.
