This past Friday I decided to go to the block party at Brews Brothers to hear Downstate Music Co.. The Glue was out of town because the grandtwins were in a wedding and she was helping out. The weather was perfect especially when the sun went down.
I sat by part time Roll'em sub Ted and his wife Marsha but there were a lot of people there including 4 or 5 classmates of mine. Since we were outside I stuck with Ultra because they were easier to keep cold than any of the draft beer in plastic cups. The band played a lot of great old songs and even worked in a Jimmy Buffett song but it was Fins which isn't one of my favorites. They have a very big sound with two trumpet types, a sax, a trombone, drums, keyboards, rhythm guitar, bass guitar and harmonica players some of whom play multiple instruments. Kilby's was there serving BBQ sandwiches which I decided to take home once I got ready to go home. Since they stopped serving at 10pm I went there about 15 minutes before they closed and ordered a BBQ, slaw and beans. Ronnie always takes care of me but he went over the line this time sending two full orders home with me. The BBQ is always great and the slaw was good but the beans were just ok. So ended up big Friday night on the town with the Glue out of town.
