Yesterday we went for our "ride" in quite a while. By ride I mean getting out and checking out some of the backroads and just relaxing. My plan was to get on the Big Muddy levee near Sand Ridge and check out Rattlesnake Ferry then get back on the levee until it meets back up to route 3. My plan was aborted when a good we hit a road closed barrier so I turned towards the river and we ended up in Turkey Bayou and Oakwood Bottoms. I was going to go up on Fountain Bluff but Lisa was afraid of scratching her jeep so we went to Grand Tower where we saw a barge that had stop a few feet away from the boat ramp parking lot.
After we left there we went to Bottom's Up to grab a late lunch. Mike and Debbie decided to split some fried chicken and chips and Lisa also got the fried chicken but went with a salad and chips. I'd been wanting catfish so I ordered catfish with steamed veggies and slaw. Their fried chicken is always stellar and their chips are normally good but Lisa's didn't seem to have much seasoning. My catfish was decent but really didn't solve my catfish hankering. The veggies were good but had a lot of broccoli stems. I'm sure the veggies are straight from a frozen bag but they taste really good. Their slaw is one of my more favorites. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 After we left there we went by the spillway and then Lisa checked up Mike and Debbie's furniture. We went by Molly's Pint but they were having a private party so we went to Brews Brothers and had one. After that we finished off the night with a couple at the Elks but didn't realize it was Luck of the Lodge and the place was packed. We were only going to have one but I went down the bar got some beer meanwhile Lisa had already ordered one too. I didn't finish either one before heading home to the comfort of my recliner.
