It's been a busy couple weeks and after yet another trip to the Verizon store we decided a nice little trip would be nice. After eliminating several other options we were down to Kretzers and Broadway Bayou. We were on our way up 127 when I finally said Broadway Bayou since it was more back roads than 127. I didn't want to take a chance on the holiday traffic being bad.
We got to Sparta a little after 1pm and the place was the most crowded we'd ever seen plus there was a teachers party going on downstairs. Broadway Grille now Broadway Bayou has been a favorite for a few years but usually it's because they have cajun food. This time we both branched out with the Glue getting a whole chicken all white, mashed potatoes and a salad. I got catfish with onion rings and a salad. I requested the catfish to be cut in strips or chunked. They don't have draft beer but they do have Amberbock and some very cold glasses. The food took a little longer than normal but nothing outrageous. The salads were nice size salads and my body really needed some greens. The fish wasn't cut up but was still very good and the onion rings were also. The Glues chicken was outstanding, very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Where else can you get four breasts and four wings for $13? Her mashed potatoes were good but not enough gravy for her so they brought her some more. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 We stopped by Brews Brothers for one on our way home and had a very nice conversations with some other people who are excited about the direction Murphysboro is heading.
