Me, the Glue, Fred and Cathy once again teamed as up S&M to play in the For Pete's Sake tournament honoring long time club member Peter who passed away a couple years ago.
In the first game of our pool we played the Ringers, one of my favorite teams to play. The game didn't start well for S&M and we were soon down 5-0 before we got started. We managed to come back to a 7-6 deficient but that was it and we lost 9-6. In the second game we played players from Love Is a Boccefield and others. We started the game down 2-0 when they got two balls inside a close one of ours. It didn't look good with that start but we got hot and won 9-2. I can't remember the team we played last, there were a lot of different team names and people playing. We jumped on them pretty good and while I don't remember the score it wasn't close and we were able to advance out of pool play. In the round of 8 played the defending champions Pin Oak all of whom are really good players. They got off to a 2-0 lead but we scored 6 straight points. They then rolled off 6 straight points and an 8-6 lead. Fred put a nice ball close to the pallino so they tried a knock. It was spot on but the pallino ended up on the back with our ball about 6 inches in front. They had one ball left and made a great shot to get inside of ours. On our last ball Fred made a really good shot but fortune wasn't smiling on us and the balls rattled around with them still be the closest. Pin Oak ended up repeating by beating the Ringers in the championship.
