Friday the Glue wanted a little drive and pizza that was different from our normal places. After much research I came across Galati's in Perryville so took another trip up route 3. It is a couple blocks away from Mary Jane's Burgers and Brews and Jackson Street Brewery so we had a couple of places within walking distance.
We got there and it's a small place but the people were very friendly and one of them had her son there who was a character and later her husband walked in and our waitress was the grandma. They had a buffett going but we wanted a fresh pizza and ordered our standard pepperoni and mushroom. The pizza was real good and while it tasted different kind of reminded me of IV's. Downside was a very limited beer selection. We left there and stopped at Mary Jane's for a beer. They had the front widows partially opened which would have been great if it was a little warmer. Our next stop was Jackson Street Brewery. The beer was ok but could have been colder. We had a great conversation with another couple who lived in Cape and are friends with Luke who is originally form Murphysboro and who we know. We then walked to the 5:05 Lounge but as soon as we walked it was obvious they allowed smoking so we headed back the other way. We passed what appeared to be beer garden with people setting up so I asked if we could get a beer. The lady laughed and we started talking to her a little. She told us about another place a couple blocks away called Southern Roots. Come to find out she is the owner of Mary Jane's and we probably talked to her for 20 minutes or so. Very nice person. We walked to Southern Roots for a final beer and when we walked in there was the lady and her husband from Galati's at the bar. In talking with them we found out they were the owners of Galati's. Very nice people too. There's a good chance Southern Roots will be our next eating place in Perryville. We had a great time in Perryville with the only downside being the weather was overcast and a tad on the cool side.
