After two soccer games we met Bailey and her family at some pumpkin place in Herrin. The kids petting an alpaca and some kind of long haired cow. Then they got to pick out a whole lot of pumpkins.
When they got done we went to Frenchman's Widow. We got chips and onion rings for appetizers since it was by one get one half off. The chips were okay but the onion rings were really good. I had a french dip and side salad while everyone else got salads, I had one bite of my sandwich that was tough and grisly but the rest was good. The side salad was spot on, enough to satisfy but not too much to get you full. We left there and decided to continue edifying Mike and Debbie on the joys of Southern Illinois. First we stopped at a very dead Pin Oak, not much happening. Our next stop was either PK's or the Cellar. We found a parking spot about half way between them so we went to PK's. Always a cool place but it wasn't very crowded but the had Riggs Octoberfest on draft. Last stop was the Cellar where not a lot was happening there either. Lisa did get one of their fantastic bloody marys, about the only place I really like them, Overall a great time. Mike was happy as three of the four places had his beloved Sailor Jerry rum, only Pin Oak didn't.
