The Roll'em team keeps up their madding inconsistent ways winning against Mission: Imbocceball then losing to 2 Boobs. Overall we didn't throw well either game but especially the second game starting out on the short end of an 8-0 start. We rallied to 8-4 before giving up the winning point. On a positive note, at least it didn't rain while we were there.

After a hard night of trivia Dusty and The Glue decided to have a late lunch at Fat Bottom Bettys then head down to Blessfest in Alto Pass. Great time at the Fest: band playing, beer being drank, kids running around and no problems. We got there after a lot of the bikers had already left so it wasn't very crowded which was nice. It reminded me of long ago events down in Jacob, small town America at it's best.
The Roll'em team took the tables as part of a trivia team last night and walked away with an unexpected second place finish. We thought we were in big trouble after a bad first round with only six right but battled back with the help of some well placed mulligans. We had a lot of great snacks on our table with The Glue's chex mix, chunked sausage and cheese and grapes. Mike chipped in with some awesome flavored popcorn and Clutch finally came through when she brought out some already opened chips :-). Beth chipped in with some chocolate munchkins which looked nothing like Wizard of Oz munchkins and I was a little concerned on what part of a munchkin would be small and round. All in all a good night especially since we finished ahead of a couple of my high school teachers!
Roll'em If You Got'em took the courts against the Squaches and their large leader. Roll'em got off to a bad start and were unable to overcome a 5-0 deficit, losing 9-7. We rebounded the second game winning 9-7 even though we missed quite a few wide open shots. Roll'em is still not on our game. We did go to Mi Patio afterwards for a late supper and the normally reliable restaurant was a big let down for maybe the first time.
Finally getting some great weather so me and The Glue went to Abbey Ridge to eat and a couple beers. Really good food but they were out of my favorite beer and several others. We also decided to try out Hedmans Winery which is really nice but needs a better beer selection. A great day in Southern Illinois, warm, sunny, no bugs and especially no shots of any kind.
The Roll'em team finally started playing up somewhat to our expectations winning 9-0 against the Elks and 9-5 over Catawamba featuring The Earl. Our record now stands at 6-2 and hopefully we can continue our move upward in the standings. The Herbster and myself really smoothed out our delivery and threw much better. The Glue toughed out a head injury suffered this past weekend to make a lot of good throws and if she didn't Clutch did. Next week a double header against the dreaded Squatchy Bocce.
The Roll'em crew got off to a terrible start by losing their first game 9-0 to my cousin's Herrin team. We then had to rally from 5-0 to beat the Rolling Stones and lost our last pool play game. In the playoffs we won one before losing again to the Herrin team but made a better showing. Afterwards the Roll'em crew went up to Brews Brothers which turned out to be a very poor decision which was made worse by some of our drink choices. Lesson learned: shots bad bad bad which is all I have to say about that.
Roll'em If You Got'em got 2 much needed wins last night by beating a revamped B-iotches and Mauraders who obviously didn't have the Schwartz with them last night. We're still not on our "A" game yet but were much better than the first two weeks. On the guys end a great move by Captain Crudmudgeon having the Herbster lead off which resulted in improved throwing by both of us. Next week: Elks and Catawumpus.
The Glue and I went up to St. Louis for the hockey game against my favorite team, the Boston Bruins. We got to St. Louis around 11:30 and the Union Station Drury was able to check us in early, We decided to walk around the area and check out some of the different area places. We started at Hard Rock Cafe and had a great time with another couple and the bartender. We then went up to Washington and turned the wrong for all the bar places. We struck out on a Mexican place that didn't have a liquor license yet but went to Pour House BBQ place. We had a sample of the burnt ends which were the best I've found. The owner gave us a sample of ribs which were good and their KC sauce is wonderful. Highly recommend this place. We then went to Schlaflys Tap Room which is a really nice place. We then proceeded to Landrys Seafood for a disappointing meal. After that it was on to the hockey game and the great tickets our buddy Mike had got us. It was a very exciting game with the Bruins winning 6-5. With just a few minutes left all of a sudden my beer can went flying and something hit my knee. Suffice it to say that hockey pucks move real fast and I'm glad it hit the beer can first. I gave to a couple kids who were by us and had been giving me the stink eye all game for wearing a Bruins hoodie. The look on their face was priceless. After the game it was back to the hotel and ok pizza from Lambardo's in the hotel. All in all a great time!
