After golf yesterday we stopped in the clubhouse for some refreshment. The Glue was at a pool party so I ordered some catfish to bring home.
It's always a gamble bringing fried stuff home, it tends to get soggy. This didn't, it was still warm enough and tasted great. Plus there was plenty of it. Overall one of my top catfish places. Delores also fixes a really good burger. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

We haven't been out doing a lot lately. We also took the summer off from bocce although I seem to get called every week to sub. Plus I've been rather lazy and not wanting to tax my brain with this well thought out blog :-)
Anyway we went down to Sinisi's in AJ again to try their sandwiches and also just to get out of the house for a while. The AC in the Jeep was a nice change instead of having the windows and top open. I spent the ride down deciding between the Italian Beef or the combo. I also remember that we needed to bring our own silverware but it didn't do much good when you're halfway there. I ended up ordering the combo which is Italian beef and Italian sausage. The Glue went with a Gyro. The order was fast getting to the table. Once I started eating the combo I realized it was bigger than it looked. It was also sloppy and the bun got soggy, I like that but the Glue doesn't. The sandwich eventually fell apart when the sausage fell through the soggy bottom of the bun. In spite of all this it was a really good sandwich. but I'll probably just order one or the other next time I get it. The Glues Gyro was also very tasty and bigger than it seemed. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍷 I've been wanting to go back to Sinisi's to get a chicago style pizza. Since they only serve it on Friday and Saturday the timing hasn't been right until last Friday.
We didn't get away until after 2pm so it was mid afternoon when we got there. As we were walking in there were a group of guys harassing us because of my shirt. Needless to say I had on a Packer shirt. It turns out one of the guys is the owner and all of them seemed to be nice guys in spite of several of them being from chicago. We finally made it inside to order and they told us it would be 45 minutes, no problem for us. We ordered a pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizza. While we were waiting the owner came by and gave us an ice cream package to take home (or at least we did). The pizza finally came and it was loaded down with toppings but was light on the sauce. The Glue is a big sauce person so she didn't care for it as much as I did. I thought it needed a little more sauce possibly but it was a good pizza. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍷 Sinisi's orders their beef for the Italian beef from chicago and then picks it up in Cape. They also get their bread from someplace up there so I told my golfing buddy about it. He went down that same day and loved the Italian beef so much he brought one home for his son to try. I decided to check out Faye's this morning. Faye's is the newest addition to the 17th St. lineup and is a cafe type place just around the corner from the original 17th Street Bar and Grill. They've remodeled an old building with the front part being Faye's and the back part their bottling operation. They've done a great job with the remodeling, the inside looks great as does the outside.
When I got there I looked around the inside at the various package items for sale including chips, mixes, pasta and sauces and several others. The menu was nice and spaced out but make the font bigger. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a bag of chips and ordered a sausage biscuit to go. The prices on both were very steep for Murphysboro. They currently only have coffee type beverages and tea. I'm don't like either. When I got home and opened the biscuit it also had egg and pimento cheese on it. I didn't realize that when I ordered. Overall it was a good sandwich and was plenty big but I'm not sure how well locals will support a $13 sausage biscuit. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 Update: When the Glue woke up she had to have something from Faye's too so I picked up a bacon biscuit for her. She agreed it's a good sandwich. The chips I picked up early are real good but not for $7. Another downside is when I asked about cookies they said they had all kinds but I was informed they don't have oatmeal raisin ones ☹️ |
