Finally some nice weather for Wednesday night bocce.
We played a makeup game against Mag 4 prior to the regularly scheduled games. Clutch couldn't make it so Pete filled in for her. The game started off with us getting single and four point frames to get the early lead. After exchanging points we ended the game with a three point frame for a 9-2 win. Clutch got there in time for the next game. Muddy Rollers never got going and we beat them 9-0. In the final game we played Holy Ballz. We exchanged single point frames until the score was 3-3 then they ran off three consecutive two point frames for a 9-3 loss.

Yesterday we went to Route 51 Brewery to hear a friend/classmate, Barbs, son play in a band, main reason is because they started playing at 12:30 so we could hear them and still get home early.
When we walked in there was another classmate, Rick, there and we ended up sitting with him, his wife and one of their daughters. After catching up some we went over to say hi to Barb. She'd gotten the turkey club and still had half of it left. That's what the Glue was going to order so Barb gave her the half that was left. I ordered a cuban with fries. The Glue wasn't wild about the turkey club so I ordered her a pulled pork sandwich. My cuban was very good. Kilbys was my favorite cuban but they don't appear to be reopening. This was different than Kilbys but this was on a par with theirs. The Glue said the BBQ was ok but nothing special. The fries were solid. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 We hadn't been to Crazy Joe's in a while so we went there yesterday, first time on a Saturday. On the way down I debated trying their BBQ which I've never had. The Glue did the same thing.
When we got there we both opted for the same thing we always get there. I got catfish strips and the Glue got cajun crawfish. We both got Joe's fries and slaw. We got our food the fastest we've ever gotten it there. I really liked the catfish but the Glue didn't care for it much. Her crawfish was also really good and the Joe's fries are hard to beat. My slaw was a little dry for my taste but no bad. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 On a rainy and chilli night it was a tale of two games.
In the first game we played Corner Bocce and once again we were on the third court. The game started out good when we got the first two points. They answered with a pair of single point frames and a pair of three point frames and suddenly it 8-2. They didn't waste any time finishing us off 9-2. In the second game we played Usual Suspects once again playing on the third court. We got out to an early 5-1 lead but instead of letting them back in the game we closed it out with a four point frame. After visiting the Dermatologist and mowing the front yard I didn't want to go very far to grab something to eat. We hadn't went on a drive for a while so I also thought about a short one of those. While mowing the yard I remembered Log Cabin Tavern so we decided to give it a try. We were going to go there last week but I ended up not feeling well so we didn't.
The place has a nice bar and several tables with a lot of signs decorating the inside. They didn't have drafts and just the standard beers so I ordered a Stag and the Glue got a Busch Bavarian. I went over thinking about a burger and kept to the plan. I ordered a garlic burger medium with mozzerella on it. The Glue got a cheeseburger and we both ordered chips. The burger was excellent, best I've had in a while. It came with grilled mushrooms and onions on it. Really nice crispy outside but was a little more done on the inside than I like it. Only downside to the burger is the grilled onions and mushrooms got the bottom bun soggy. The chips were mediocre, not much seasoning and some seemed barely cooked. We both really liked the place and will probably go back pretty soon. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 chips really held it back. We went down the road a bit to the Pitstop by it didn't appear to be open anymore. We went for a ride south of Marion then looped around and ended up going on a lot longer ride than I expected. Due to a variety of reasons when we go out it's been to places that are close and haven't gone anywhere worth talking about. Not that the food hasn't been good but it's routine so to speak.
I've been under the weather and haven't really felt like eating much of anything for several days and finally turned the corner yesterday. The Glue asked what sounded good and I mentioned several things including fried chicken which also sounded good to her. With a storm moving in it limited our choices and we finally decided to pick up fried chicken for Cindy B's. We hadn't had anything from there in quite a while and the last few times have been breakfast. We both ordered fried chicken all white, mashed potatoes and white gravy and a side salad with house dressing. They said it would be about 20 minutes so I waited a while and went to get it. They were taking it out when I got there but the waitress said the cook hadn't seen it was supposed to be all white and they both were thighs and wings. That wasn't what I wanted so I waited while they fixed it again. Both waitresses were very apologetic and said how sorry they were numerous times. I told them as long as it was hot, good and I beat the storm I was okay. They told me I could have both thighs that had been fixed in error and they also gave me a piece of peanut butter pie. It got done before the storm hit and I took it home thinking it would be cold or not very good but when we tried it it was hot and good. The chicken breast was a little greasy and the Glue said a little tough but mine wasn't. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good but very heavy and I couldn't come close to eating it all. Later on I had the peanut butter pie and it was very good, probably too good. This morning I had the salad for breakfast but added a pulled left over thigh. It really hit the spot and house dressing was good but different. 🍺🍺🍺🍷 Week 4 games have been canceled due to weather. We missed the first part last night and let's hope we don't get hit too hard with today and tonights.
Clutch had to work so Danny subbed for her last night.
We played Boccelism in the first game on the third court. This court is becoming our achilles heel and last night proved no exception. Simple throws become an adventure and we don't seem to adjust as well as other teams. We started out with a close game but they found the range and we didn't ending up with a 9-4 loss. In the second game we moved to the middle court to play Bocce-licious. We made enough good throws to keep them on the defensive and ran away with a 9-0 win. With a new grandson we stayed around the area and gone to place we go to quite often so I haven't had much to put in here or a lot of time to do it.
Catching up a little, a couple weeks ago we went to the Giant City Lodge for my cousins 80th birthday. It had been several years since we'd been there, not that's it's not good but there's so much to eat I always eat too much. Like just about everyone in our group we go the fried chicken. I also had some chicken and dumplings and mashed potatoes. The chicken was excellent however the chicken and dumplings were not even warm. I think they would have been good if they had been hot but oh well. The mashed potatoes were solid but most it's hard to stand out with mashed potatoes. A part of our group arrived late and ordered and after they were finished we all left. I happened to notice that there were three breasts left and I asked our waiter about them and he said we could take them since we'd been nice. Not a lot of fried stuff I like leftover but I do like fried chicken left over. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 really brought down by the cold chicken and dumplings. |
