Last week I met some guys I went to school with at Harbaughs for breakfast. I ordered corned beef hash. It comes with two eggs and I told them I wanted then cracked and mixed in with the hash. I was surprised they hadn't had anyone want them like that before and the waitress wasn't sure if they could do it. It seemed like a pretty easy request and the cook indicated they could. When the got there the hash was really good and I really liked the eggs mixed in with it.
🍺🍺🍺🍺🍷 Yesterday the Glue spent a long time at the hospital with one of her long time friends who has been having some major issues. When she got home I mention 17th Street for "a burger and a beer" but we ended up going to the Turn so we could use the half price cards we got before they could expire. I had been in the restaurant at Kokopelli before but they've done a total remodel and rebranding. I kind of wanted a burger but you can get a burger anywhere so we opted for wings. We got 18 naked wings with stinging honey and sweet thai sauces on the side. We also got a side of house chips to try out. A little while later the waitress came out with a worried look on her face and said she had forgot to add that the sauce was on the side. She said they could remake them. I said I really wanted naked but we would go ahead and take the sauced ones. The wings were really good but very sticky and messy which is the main reason I wanted naked. The house chips were excellent so we ordered a second round of them along with a second round Blue Moon drafts. When we got our bill I was surprised that it was full price. I thought maybe they'd comp the chips of half off the wings but there wasn't anything. We also found out that their whole menu is available all day although their Facebook group says after 4pm for part of the menu. 🍺🍺🍺 (really brought down by wrong order)

I felt a little better yesterday so I went uptown with the Glue to get a few items. We finished off by stopping at Big Muddy Brewery. Of course we had a couple beers while we were there and then ordered Kilbys to take home.
I hadn't had a regular bbq sandwich in quite a while so I went with that and the Glue ventured out and got a sliced chicken sandwich. The bbq really hit the spot and the Glue's chicken was a pleasant surprise. I'm sure I'll be getting it some in the future. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍷 The Glue's feeling better but now I'm under the weather a little so we picked up Thai Taste again mainly to use up our last half price coupon. I say we but before we could get our of Murphysboro Dax started fussing so I dropped him and the Glue back off at our house.
We ordered egg drop soup, an order of wings and fried spring rolls (aka egg rolls). We hit a busy time so I had to wait for a while when I got there. When I got it all home everything was really nice and hot. The egg drop soup really hit the spot and has passed up hot and sour soup as my favorite. The chicken wings were the best I've had there, not too hot and not to messy. The spring rolls were okay but nothing special. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 The Glue is finally feeling better so we got a chance to finally get out. It was Monday so the choices of places to go is limited especially ones with draft beer. After much deliberations and a lot of "I don't care" we finally settled on a little ride around Giant City and then eat at O'Charleys. It's not one of our favorites by any means but they have a nice menu and several draft beer options.
When we got there we both got tall Blue Moon drafts. Blue Moon isn't one of our go to beers but sometimes it tastes really good and this was one of those times although it seemed more orange than the last one we had. I knew I'd regret it but I ordered the seafood platter with slaw and a side salad with french dressing. The Glue went with the $5 special chicken nachoes with the queso on the side. We split the salad when it arrived and it really hit the spot but the croutons weren't as good as most other places. The seafood platter arrived with fried shrimp, fried cod and stuffed crab. The Glue took one of the three stuffed crabs and like it. I wasn't sure if I'd like the stuffed crab but it was actually good. The fried shrimp was solid. I'm not a big cod fan but this was pretty good. Overall I was happy. The Glue on the other hand wasn't wild about her nachoes, the shredded cheese wasn't melted and the pico seemed to be just diced tomatoes. 🍺🍺🍺 (really brought down by the nachoes) With the Glue still not feeling well I picked up chicken and dumplings a couple days ago from Cindy B's. The Glue got a bowl of it and I got a bowl with fried potatoes and slaw. We hadn't been there in a while and for some reason chicken and dumps sounded good.
I got there just as the order was finishing up. When I got it home it was still nice and hot. The chicken and dumps had a really good flavor but the dumps kind of dissolved in your mouth. I thought not done but the Glue said they were overdone. Not surprising since I got there after 1pm and they were closing at 2. The fried potatoes and slaw were good. 🍺🍺🍺 The Glue's been under the weather for a bit so we haven't been doing much lately. We hadn't been to Thai Taste in quite a while so on Tuesday we decided to get some to bring home. We both ended up ordering spicy crazy noodle lunch specials with an egg roll and we opted for soup instead of an additional egg roll. I got spice level 2 with extra mushrooms and cabbage while the Glue got spic level 4 and extra cabbage.
Talk about great timing, I went in to pick it up and just as soon as I got back to the Jeep it started raining. Anyway we got the stuff home and it was still nice and hot. Thai Tastes egg roll are good but nothing special. The soup of the day was vegetable but it was just broth and cabbage. It was a big drop from egg drop or hot and sour soups. The spicy crazy noodle was very good. The Glue had bought two $25 coupons for half price so we'll be going there again in the week or so. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 (brought down a little by the soup) |
