Week 6&7

Last week me and the Glue went to pick up her brother and his girlfriend so not sure what happen in week 6 other than we split.
Last night Clutch couldn't make and Danny was busy so we turned to the Glue's brother Mike to fill in.  In the first game we played Boobs Booze and Bocce on the third court.  It was a close game until the Glue got a close one and they threw four long shots that weren't close and we closed out a 9-5 win.
In the second game we played Corner Bocce Ballers on the middle court.  They got out to a big lead and every time we made a close shot they knocked us out.  We had a chance to make a game of it but our last three balls were short on what should have been a four point frame.  The next frame I knocked us out of a point when I hit one of their balls on my last throw.  We ended up losing 9-4.

Cape trip

On Wednesday we got a chance to go on a day trip to Cape Girardeau.  This have become hard to come by lately.
We got there before we were ready to eat so we went to Minglewood for a beer only to find out they were closed until 4pm.  We started down the street when we saw a person in smiling and waving in a window so we stopped in.  It wasn't the person I thought it was but it was a new place that had just opened up on Monday called Spectrum.  It is a bar and record store.  Nice place with a decent draft list.  I got a brown ale and the Glue got a mixed drink called totally naked or something to that effect.  It was a good time and as we were leaving the lady who waved us in said she'd had three of those drinks.  She still had her clothes on though.
Next we went to Broussards to eat.  I got Lazy Magnolia pecan and I don't remember what the Glue got since they didn't have Amberbock.  I ordered etouffee and the Glue got a pound of crawdads.  We split the side salad that came with mine and it was good but they don't have their house dressing anymore.  The etouffee is always great there and this was no exception.  The Glue was disappointed in the crawdads, not as much seasonings as she would like.
🍺🍺🍺🍺
Next we walked around the corner to Many Good Things.  When we'd been there before it was packed but there wasn't anyone else there this time.  I got an Amber and the Glue tried a pineapple pomegranate seltzer.  We got a four pack of each to take home.
Finally we went back to Minglewood for a last one before heading home.

Chalky's, Buckwater & the Glue's birthday

Yesterday was the Glue's birthday.  We started off the day watching the twins first soccer game even though they hadn't had any practices.  The team named itself the Red Apple Soccer team.  The twins spent most of the game holding hands and watching the other players but got into the game more towards the end.  I don't think there is any score kept but it ended up tied 1-1 with the Red Apple Soccers scoring both goals.
As we were leaving we were able to get in the Elks early so I could finally pay my dues then it was off to the high school to watch Ethans 5/6 grade football game.  As a fifth grader he didn't get a lot of playing time but it was fun watching and his team won 34-6.
On the way home to change we stopped in the American Legion for a beer and so I could pay my long overdue dues.  We were only staying for one but walked out with two chips for future beers.
After changing we decided to try Chalkys by the old Ramada Inn.  The inside was really nice and unsurprisingly loaded with pool tables.  They have a small bar and only have your standard mass produced beers.  We both got Busch Bavarians after they said they were out of Stag.  We ordered 5 wings to snack with sauce on the side.  The Glue got a hot parmesan type and I got what the waitress recommended.  Hers was too hot for me and mine was good.
We made a quick stop at the Cellar where we ran into several people we know who were debating going to the SIU game.
Buckwater Brew Works doesn't open until 3pm and for some reason I didn't think they served food until 5pm but found out differently when we arrived.  The waitress seemed really pissy and impatient.  I ordered a stout and the Glue got a niner niner 263 lager.  The stout was good but the lager wasn't that great.  The Glue wanted to try the italian mac and cheese and I got a brat with sidewinder fries.  The Glue said the italian mac was good.  The sidewinder fries was okay but were a little better when I put some salt on them.  The brat was disappointing.  I didn't realize it came with a copious amount of cheese on it.  After a couple of bites the sandwich fell apart and I just scrapped as much of the cheese off the brat and ate it.
🍺🍺
We finished up the Glue's birthday tour with a quick beer at Brews Brothers.  Overall a good day.

Cummares

Yesterday was a trying day for the Glue so we decided to order Cummares and for the first time use their delivery option.  We got the shrimp in spicy red wine sauce special and an order of meatballs.
The delivery was there in around 30 minutes and the food was hot.  Very pleased with the delivery.  The shrimp in spicy red wine sauce was just ok.  There didn't seem like there was much sauce on the noodles and I didn't notice much sauce.  I expect better from Cummares.  On the other hand the meatballs were very good and saved the order.  Their garlic bread is always so so and while it was better was still just so so.

Today (9/10) is the Glue's birthday
Happy birthday Dear

In the first game we took on Magnificent 4 on the dreaded third court.  Clutch couldn't be there because of her work so we once again turned to Danny.  We jumped out to an early lead and kept going for a 9-2 win.
In the second game we played Holy Ballz in a big match up of first place teams.  The game stayed close for a few frames then they got hot and coasted to a 9-3 win.

Duck Inn

I finally got the Glue to try the Duck Inn yesterday, we've been there for a beer several times but not to eat.  It's hard to find a place open on Monday that's not a chain.
The trip got of to an inauspicious start when I left the cooler sitting on the garage floor.  This necessitated a stop at the Grand Tower market where we discovered Funyon flavored Lays chips which aren't that great.
Anyway when we got to the Duck Inn I ordered a burger with grilled onions, swiss and pickles.  The Glue got a slider and she mentioned the pick four appetizer basket.  We got wings, cheese curds, mushrooms and onion rings.
The appetizer basket was big, enough for four people easily.  I liked the wings but the Glue said they were overdone.  The curds and mushrooms were real good but the onion rings were so so.  The burger was outstanding, probably the best in the area.  The Glue was impressed and will go back.

I don't like playing the 7 & 8 game especially when you start on court 3 against a team that had already played on it.  Plus the team we played, Boccelism, was currently in first place,
We started off the game with a three and followed up with a two for a 5-0 lead.  We added to our lead with a pair of one point frames and suddenly it was 7-0.  They got on the board with a point.  They were down got their last ball in but our next shot off the wall knocked them away and gave us the two points we needed for a 7-1 win.
In the next game we played Boccelicious once again on the third court.  We gradually pulled away and won 9-0.
A much needed rebound after the poor performance of the previous week.
In something of an oddity both games had frames that ended in a tie.  It doesn't happen much and always causes confusion when it does.
