Our first game in week 3 was against Too Old To Bowl. We got the first point but in the next frame I knocked them in for two points. Then we got hot. We scored the next eight points including a four point frame to close out the game 9-2.
The second game against Mission: Imbocceball was closer. We finally got the lead 7-5 then won the game with a two point frame with two balls remaining.

With Clutch opting not to play in the For Pete's Sake memorial tournament I got Roberto to play for us.
In the first game we drew the Punishers. We got a single point and then a four point frame to jump out to a 5-0 lead. They started closing the gap and they got a three point frame to make the game close. We couldn't finish it out and they won 9-7. In the second game we played Holy Ballz with both of us really needing a win to have a chance of getting out of pool play. We were able to take advantage of Mick playing for the Eclectics and pull out a 9-5 win. We needed to win our last game against the Rolling Stones to have any chance of advancing. We also really needed to hold them under 7 points. Mission accomplished with a 9-3 win that was never in doubt. This combined with Holly Ballz beating the Punishers not only got us out of pool but made us the #1 seed in our pool. In the first round we played BMM which had Jay and Tom from Big Muddy Monsters and a couple inexperienced players. We were able to take advantage of our opportunities and won the game 9-4. In the semi-finals we played Pin Oak. We hung with them all game until we missed three times on a very easy shot against the wall and they easily got their next ball in and we lost 9-5. Pin Oak went on to beat Can't Be Trusted in the finals. Both of us were ready to get out of the house and go somewhere yesterday. We're both still feeling the aftereffects of Covid so we decided to keep it a little closer to home. The choice finally came down to The Mill or trying out Rend Lake bar and grill with Stringers as the third choice. The Mill has several draft beer selections but Rend Lake has a lot bigger menu. Unsurprisingly the beer won out.
After we turned in Christopher we hit road construction and were stopped for 15-20 minutes. I was getting ready to turn around when we were allowed to get going. I wanted a burger so I went with the Mill burger and seasoned crinkle cut fries. The Glue got shrimp with a bourbon glaze and a side salad. We both got Shiner Bock drafts. My burger was okay but overdone for my taste. The fries were what is normally called waffle fries and they were good but not a lot of seasoning. The Glue's salad was a really nice side salad and the balsamic dressing was good. The shrimp were very good and easily the best thing we got. 🍺🍺🍺🍷 We were going to go to Pheasant Hollow afterwards but the sky was looking like it could rain and there was rain to the south. Since the Glue had the freedom tops at home we decided to take some back roads and get closer to home. Our back road didn't go on very long and when we got closer to Murphysboro we decided on a trip around the park and then home. The Glue got released from Covid quarantine yesterday so Roll'em was back to our regular team.
In the first game we played Solid Shooters. They started off the game with back to back two point frames. We got on the board with one then two point frames to make it 4-3. We then got a four point frame and closed out the win when they knocked us out of a point but into two points for a 9-4 win. In the second game we played Bertha's Ball Handlers back and forth one point frames until they started making shots and we didn't. We should have lost twice before they finally finished us off 9-5. Since we couldn't go out the past week so we decided to order Moe's or I should say our daughter and son in law decided it.
I got a chicken club quesadilla and it came with chips and salsa. I didn't really care about the salsa and Bailey really likes the green so I got that. The quesadilla was a lot bigger than I thought it would be and really sloppy. I ended up just eating the insides with a fork and it didn't really come close to hitting the spot for me. The chips were good but nothing really special. I ended up liking the green salsa and am glad Bailey wanted it otherwise I would have got the red. 🍺🍺 Roll'em kicked off the fall season last night without myself and the Glue. We're both restricted to home after testing positive for covid, sucks big time. Danny and Kenny filled in for us along with the return of Herbster and Clutch.
We beat both Boccelicous and Muddy Rollers to begin the season 2-0. Both of us should be back next week so Roll'em will be at full strength. With the Glue gone on vacation I got a Kilbys one day and the next I got Pats.
At Kilbys I got the catfish sandwich which is rapidly becoming one of my go tos there. I also got a side of slaw. The catfish sandwich was real good but it chose to deconstruct itself and got real sloppy. I like their slaw but this time it was ok but didn't really hit the spot, no idea why. A very solid 🍺🍺🍺🍺 rating. I got Pats after the bocce tournament on Saturday where they had Pats pulled pork with beans and slaw. I had a little of the pork and slaw but I was still hungry afterwards. I'd been wanting to try the open faced brisket so I got that. I ordered the mashed potatoes separate from the brisket and also ordered slaw. They said I got another side so I ordered more slaw. In a weak moment I got a slice of chocolate caramel praline cheesecake. When I opened it at home the brisket was on top of the mashed potatoes, not really a big deal. The brisket was real solid but the mashed potatoes were lacking for some reason. I don't know if I got the bottom of the pan or what they just weren't what I expected. I probably like their slaw better than Kilbys and it was on spot except one had tumped over and some of the dressing had leaked out. Everyone needs to stay away from the cheesecake, you'll just one several more slices. It was excellent. Mashed potatoes really dragged down the rating 🍺🍺🍺 The Glue was busy having fun in Gulf Shores with some of her old classmates so the Herbster filled in for her. We were only playing in the tournament because Ted was in covid quarantine and couldn't play so Danny and Jean played with us instead of their regular team.
We started off the day against Boccelism on the third court. We were the first game there and the court was fast for once but still inconsistent. The game was decided with us holding an 8-6 lead. We got our last game in with them still holding three balls. They banged one hard off the wall and it knocked our ball out giving them 2 points and us having nothing close and that was the game as they easily put their next ball in and we lost 9-8. In the next game we played Holy Balls and we had three chances to win but couldn't close it out, once again losing 9-8. In the last game we played Empty Nesters and were once again on the third court. We nothing at stake we cruised past them 9-3. We scored 25 out of a possible 27 points and didn't get out of pool play. Empty Nesters made it to the final four and Holy Balls made the finals so we were in a tough bracket. |
