Yesterday afternoon I went out to 715 Gaming to pick up some etouffee from Swamp Tales food truck. It appeared they were wrapping things up but they still had the ettouffee. Once again they didn't have to go containers so we had to improvise. We've had good luck with the etouffee from there but this time we didn't. Some of the rice was crunchy and the etouffee in general just wasn't as good as we've had in the past from there.

A couple days ago Lisa and Bailey stopped at Hunan's after doing some shopping. Lisa asked if I wanted her to bring something home, of course I said yes. I bounced back and forth between beef and garlic sauce and veggie lo mein. I finally went with the beef and garlic sauce.
It was still nice and hot when the got it back but it bordered on too spicy for me. Additionally the veggies in it were not what I expected and were disappointing. It was very different than any other garlic sauce dishes I've had. The best thing about the dish was the rice so that says a lot. Lisa had some of her crispy beef left and that's always a winner but the garlic sauce wasn't. 🍺🍺 Yesterday we stopped by Cutting Edge on our way back from Sam's to pick up a salad and some crawdad chowder only to find out they won't have the chowder until fall. We decided to split a cutting edge club and pecan berry salad. We got the house vinaigrette instead of the strawberry vanilla vinaigrette. The club comes with a side so we got zucchini fries.
The club was just okay, so far I've had two sandwiches and both needed something more. The pecan berry salad was very good and there was a lot of it. The zucchini fries were really nice too. In retrospect we probably should have gotten a salad and an appetizer. Apparently at our league championship on Saturday two individuals couldn't contain themselves and caused the tournament to be canceled. From what I've been told the two had been "barking" at each other then after the game it continued to escalate and allegedly may have had a belligerent chest bump followed by a push. From there it continued to escalate with each talking about settling it in a more physical way. This is all hearsay from three different individuals, none who say the incident start.
Regardless, come on. Why? Two adults playing a game and it comes to this. Shame on you. There is no place in the MBC for this type of activity. This type of activity could spoil everything for everyone else. There's already been one person suspended for a year for this type of immaturity. Shame on you We decided to show Mike and Debbie Mase's Place yesterday. It was a really beautiful day, not too hot, not too cold.
I ordered shrimp with tots and corn. I asked them to put seasoning on the tots and they did. My shrimp was really good as were the tots. The corn was lacking, it was supposed to be seasoned but I didn't taste any. It probably would have helped if the corn would have been warmer. Lisa got wings with fries and seemed happy with both as did Mike with his brisket burger and Debbie also got shrimp. All in all a solid choice. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 Afterwards we decided on a little drive and LaRue Pine Hills was the natural choice. I'd forgotten it was drive you Jeep topless day so we were in the Durango, probably a good thing since several of the pot holes hurt my side/back area. Other than that it was a nice drive. Yesterday evening we decided to go to 17th Street. I went up with the intention of a burger or other sandwich but after looking at the menu I went with extra crispy wings and slaw. The wings were good but just didn't really hit the spot, I should have stayed with a sandwich. The slaw is vinegar based and I really liked it.
With the health problems I've got going on we're limited to places not too far away. I'm gradually feeling better and willing to got a little further but it will take awhile. After bocce on Wednesday we ordered a pizza from Cummares, something we hadn't done in a while. I'm not sure why since it's one of my favorite pizzas and this one was no exception, really good.
Yesterday I mentioned getting a burger at the Marina and as fate would have it Lisa was looking at their menu so it was decided. I had the burger and Lisa had wings. It took them longer than I expected to get the order out but the burger was really good and big. I had it with havarti cheese which I'd never had before but really liked. The fries appear to be your typical crinkle cut fries but they were pretty good and there were plenty of them. Lisa said her wings looked overly done on the outside but were nice and moist on the inside. I'm anxious to see if they start expanding the menu and add draft beer after the traditional start of boating season on Memorial weekend. 🍺🍺🍺🍺 Roll'em finished it's spring '23 season last night. Once again Danny subbed for me however I felt well enough to go to the courts and watch.
We started off with Corner Bocce Ballers on the third court. In atypical fashion we got a three point frame right out of the gate. They caught up and it was back and forth until the score was 7-6. We had a chance to win but could only tie it 7-7 and they got the last two points to win 9-7 ending our season. Of note Mike and Debbie made substantial improvement from when I had to quit playing to last night. I finally felt good enough to get out and go somewhere. I'd been craving a pork chop and Gabbys is one of the few places that has them so off we went. I stayed with the plan and ordered pork chops, one grilled one fried. I also got mashed potatoes and white gravy and slaw. Lisa got fried chicken with a salad and mashed potatoes and gravy. Mike also got fried chicken but with double chips and Debbie got a bacon sandwich.
I probably liked the grilled chop better but only had a couple bites of the fried one. The potatoes and gravy were weak especially the gravy. The slaw was vinegar based and very good. Lisa said the same thing about the mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken was really good and she loved the salad. Mike said the chips were much better than the last time he was there but Debbie said her bacon was cold. 🍺🍺🍺🍷 (gravy and cold bacon really brought the score down) Monday I got sent to the ER at St Joe's. To say the room was uncomfortable would be a massive understatement. After several tests it was determined I had a herniated lung that was going through my rib. Not good. There were no available rooms at St Joe's and they finally got one at Memorial in Carbondale. Of course I had to wait a couple hours for transport.
I finally made it to Memorial and my room for the next three days around 12:30. Hospital rooms as a whole are not very comfortable and this one wasn't either. The people there were very nice and accommodating. The food was okay except for the omelet I had was really good. The last day I ordered a banana only to find out it was similar to applesauce, yuck. By the time I left I really missed my recliner and my body hurt all over. Once I got home a shower and a nap in my recliner were in order. I've been sick for a week or so and haven't really felt like going anywhere or posting anything. Hoprgully i'm on the dowside and getting better.
I had to sit out last nights game because of sickness and a rib problem, Roll'em dropped two last night. I don't know much on what happened other than we lost.
I'm hoping to be back next Wednesday but that might be a stretch. After a somewhat promising start Roll'em is showing it's inexperience dropping our last six games. |
