On Wednesday we had to go to Lowes and Best Buy so while we were in Carbondale we decided to drive a few more miles and pickup lunch at the Caribbean Hut in Cambria. When we got there the menu wasn't posted but was told to you when you were at the window which made making decisions kind of hard but we were the only people in line so it wasn't awful. We both decided on getting the jerk chicken with corn and while I went with beans and rice the Glue went with crab salad. We also got an order of shrimp to try. As we were waiting for the food to get ready we talked with the two guys that were working there and told them we were from Murphysboro and it was our first visit there. One asked if we would give them a review on Facebook and I told that if we liked it we'd be a couple of their biggest fans and would help spread the word. When we got our order they'd thrown in a couple of hot patty's which are wrapped in a crust of some sort, similar to a pizza pocket.
Anyway the drive home seemed awful long since the smell was sooo good. While the jerk chicken was all dark we got three pieces in each box and it was great. The Glue said her crab salad was real good and the corn had a seasoning on it which was also real good. The shrimp also had seasoning and was good but not as good as the jerk chicken which surprised me. The beans and rice weren't anything like I expected which was along the red beans and rice cajun dish but they were nothing like it. They were good and the hot patty's seemed good but there was so much other stuff it was really hard to decide. Later on Wednesday we met up with Packer buddy Schmuck for our annual preseason pizza get together at long time favorite Quatros. I've been a little tired of Quatros for a while so we haven't been going there as much. It was great to be back and the pizza has long been one of favorites in Southern Illinois and didn't disappoint. I also had a piece of thin crust that Schmuck had ordered and it was really good. I hadn't had think crust since early in my time working at SIU. On Thursday night we went up to the Thursday concert at Marvin the Martian park. Nine88 was playing and we've heard them before a few places but I don't recall them playing songs that featured their banjo player who happens to live down the street from us. I've loved the banjo since I was young and he sounded real good.. Once again it was a good crowd and there's something about listening to music outside that makes it better. While we were there we ran across my old teammate from my softball playing days, Red Dawg or just Red. We had a nice visit talking about what's going on with us and the required reminiscing about the old days.
