The Glue and I decided to head up to Green Bay 9:30ish instead of sitting around the hotel. We got there early enough that most of the neighborhood houses weren't out trying to get people to park in their yard. One guy was out waving a Packer flag so we ended up parking in his yard for $30. We had to walk about a half block one way and then another half block in another and we were at Lambeau. We walked around the outside of the stadium since nothing was open, a lot has changed since we were last there almost 15 years ago. We went back to the car to have a beer and a party bus was parked in the guys driveway so we hung out with them for a while, what a hoot and most weren't even going to the game. They were going to go down the street to a bar and watch.
We then decided to go to Krolls and have a butter burger and split some fries to soak beer that would be consumed. These burgers are legendary. The Glue then got a text from her classmate Alan who got us the tickets and him and his buddy were at Tailgate Village which is a really scaled down version of Ballpark Village in St. Louis. The place was packed so we got a beer and walked around trying to find them. We finally got together and had a beer together but mine and the Glue's were warm and we ended up throwing most of it away. It was then time to make our way into Lambeau so we found our section and started up to row 57. Wow, the steps were big and it just about took all I had to make it up only to find out there was a ramp a couple rows above us. The Packers came out dominating but couldn't put any points on the board. Rodgers threw a rare interception which was controversial in that it was returned for a touchdown but called back for clipping and there was also a personal foul on the seahawks. From where I was sitting it looked like a block in the back but on replay it looked dubious. I also thought that the seahawk player had thrown a punch but replay didn't show it. It looked like a 0-0 tie at half until the Packer coach called a couple time outs at the end trying to get the ball back. Rodgers threw a rare interception which was controversial in that it was returned for a touchdown but called back for clipping and there was also a personal foul on the seahawks. It didn't work as the seahawks completed a couple passes and would up with a field goal. The Packers got a early turnover inside the seahawk 10 yard line and punched it in for the score. The Packers got another TD when Rodgers got the seahawks to jump and completed a long pass to Nelson. The Packers got a FG and the seahawks kicked two and that was the end of the scoring. We headed back to car and had a beer to let the traffic clear out but it was still jammed up. We were tired and headed back to the hotel and walked next door to Arbys for something to eat, not what I wanted but it was convenient. The next morning we got up fairly early and got on the road after getting gas and a few more six packs of Wisconsin beer since they can sell at 6am even on Sundays. I made a mistake in the route but we were able to find an alternate that was even better and the 8+ hour drive was uneventful. The Packers, Lambeau, opening day what more needs to be said.
