The Glue had to stand outside and ring bells yesterday and was still cold when she got home. She wanted something hot and hardy and she decided on Lisa's in Prairie Du Rocher for fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
It's a great drive up Route 3 and for some reason it seemed faster than normal yesterday. I toyed with getting catfish but we decided to split 1/2 chicken all white meat and mashed potatoes. I debated beer batter fries or american fries so I asked the waitress which she liked and she said beer batter fries. We both ordered draft Boulevard Nutcracker ale. There were more people in the place than we'd seen before. One guy seemed to be having a lot of fun and we talked to the group when they were leaving exchanging places to go. When the chicken arrived it was too hot to eat but once it cooled a little it was excellent, moist and juicy with a really good crusty skin. The mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes, nothing special but solid. The Glue didn't care for the fries but I thought they were all right but should have ordered the american fries. We both really liked the Nutcracker Ale and Lisa had two but I only had one when I found out it was 7.8% abv. I was also surprised to find out that it was 38 ibu's which is higher than I normally care for. The chicken really carried this meal 🍺🍺🍺🍺 When we got back to Murphysboro we stooped in to Molly's Pint for a quick Irish Red which is probably my favorite there.
