Yesterday was our wedding anniversary so we decided to go on a day trip to Columbia Il. to check out Who Dat's Southern Food. We've been wanting to go there for several years but I was worried about traffic. Friends Paducah and Tonya have urged us to go for quite a while too.
We took a round about way to get there and it took a little longer to get there but we weren't in a hurry. Once we hit route 3 just outside Columbia it was easy to get to the place. When we got there I mentioned we knew the "girls from Murphysboro" and you would have thought they were rock stars. The place isn't real big and has a nice cozy feel to it. They didn't have draft beer but they did have Abita Amber so we ordered those while we decided on what we were going to have. We ended up ordering etouffee, gumbo and hot bbq shrimp. While we waited we got to talk to the owner, waitress and a couple of the patrons there. They all knew the girls from Murphysboro and the owner comes down occasionally to visit them. Both of us thought the etouffee was outstanding. I thought the gumbo was good but the Glue wasn't overly fond of it. The Glue really liked the bbq shrimp, I thought they were good but very messy. We were done and the owner brought over a small piece of gooey butter cake for us to sample. The Glue isn't as big on sweets as I am but she said that I'd better try it before she ate it all. She also ordered a piece to take home to our daughter. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
